Monaco's hopes of climbing to the summit of Ligue 1 were dashed with a 1-0 loss against Lorient. Noah Cadiou's penalty in the second half sealed the deal for Lorient, leaving Monaco among a tight pack at the top of the table.
Now, four teams are neck and neck in points, including Paris FC, who secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over Rennes with an injury-time penalty from Lassine Sinayoko. Rennes, despite Estéban Lepaul's hat-trick of penalties, fell to fifth place, just behind the leaders.
Paris Saint-Germain currently reign at the top after their 3-1 win against Strasbourg, edging ahead on goal difference, with Lille and Monaco close behind. Lyon could surge past PSG if they manage to defeat Nice in their match later today.
Marseille, meanwhile, celebrated a much-needed victory, demolishing Angers 5-2 to distance themselves from the relegation zone. At the bottom, Le Havre remains in dire straits as Auxerre claimed a 3-1 win, powered by a brace from Cameroon forward Danny Namaso.
In Germany, Bayer Leverkusen turned the tide against Freiburg, coming back to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Ibrahim Maza and Patrik Schick. After a shaky start to the season, Leverkusen has now amassed 13 points from their last six games, sitting fourth in the Bundesliga standings.
At the other end of the table, Borussia Mönchengladbach's struggles continued with a 2-1 home loss to Hoffenheim. Bambasé Conté scored for Hoffenheim, while Wael Mohya equalized for Gladbach, only to see Alexander Prass restore the visitors' lead shortly after.
In Serie A, Cesc Fàbregas’s Como snapped a three-match winless streak by defeating Fiorentina 3-1. Goals from Mattia Liberali and Nico Paz set the tone before Marin Pongracic's goal gave the hosts a glimmer of hope, which was extinguished by Anastasios Douvikas early in the second half.
AC Milan edged past Atalanta 3-2, with Gonçalo Ramos, Adrien Rabiot, and Mario Gila putting them in a commanding position before Atalanta made things tense with two late goals.
Later today, Lazio will face Juventus, aiming for a win that could see them level with Inter at the top of the table. Earlier, Lecce secured a solid 3-0 victory against Udinese, with goals from Kialonda Gaspar, Konan N’Dri, and Jamil Siebert.
In La Liga, Osasuna took down Racing Santander 2-0, while Celta Vigo managed a 2-1 win over Alavés. Real Madrid will be looking to cut into Barcelona's nine-point lead when they host Sevilla later tonight.
