Dani Carvajal Makes Move to Getafe After Real Madrid Tenure
Dani Carvajal, a product of Real Madrid’s youth system since 2002, is embarking on a new chapter in his career with Getafe after leaving the Bernabeu. The Spanish right-back, who captained Madrid, is now officially a free agent after his contract expired in June. At 34, he’s ready to make an impact with Getafe, a team currently positioned 11th in La Liga, right in the heart of Madrid. With an impressive 27 trophies to his name, including six Champions League titles, Carvajal is one of football's most accomplished players. His experience will be invaluable for Getafe as they look to climb the league standings. Carvajal's international career also boasts 51 caps for Spain, highlighted by victories in both the Nations League and the European Championship. However, his recent seasons have been marred by injuries, including a significant cruciate ligament tear in October 2024 and another knee injury a year later. These setbacks, along with the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold, limited his playtime in his final season with Real Madrid. Despite that, Getafe is excited about bringing in a player of his caliber, emphasizing the importance of his experience and leadership on and off the pitch.
