Bruno Fernandes Faces Home Break-In While Away in Italy
Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, had an unsettling experience on Wednesday when his home was burglarized while he was away in Italy for a Champions League clash against Como. Thankfully, his family was not at their Cheshire residence during the break-in, and reports indicate the intruders spent less than five minutes inside before police arrived. Manchester United is reportedly rallying around the 32-year-old midfielder following this distressing incident. Cheshire Police have been contacted by BBC Sport for more details regarding the burglary. Fernandes joins a list of footballers who have faced similar situations, with Manchester City’s Ruben Dias also having his home targeted while he was playing. Dias was at a Champions League match against Galatasaray in January when the break-in occurred. Other players who have fallen victim in the same area include notable names like Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling, and Riyad Mahrez. Since joining Manchester United from Sporting in January 2020, Fernandes has been an integral part of the team. In the aftermath of United's 4-1 defeat to Como, he voiced his concerns regarding manager Michael Carrick's tactics, though he will retain his captaincy and face no repercussions for his remarks. Despite the on-field struggles, senior figures at United are keeping a close eye on the team's performance as Carrick continues in his role.
