Rangers Rise to the Top as Hearts Deliver a Crushing Blow to St Mirren
Rangers secured a vital 3-1 victory against Kilmarnock, propelling them to the top of the Scottish Premiership. Ryan Naderi was the star of the show, scoring twice with powerful headers in the first half, bringing his season tally to six goals. Kevin Kelsy also found the back of the net before halftime, helping Rangers leapfrog Celtic in the standings. However, their hopes for a fifth consecutive clean sheet were dashed when Kilmarnock substitute Nicky Clescenco scored in the dying moments of the match. In another thrilling encounter, Hearts showcased their attacking prowess with a resounding 5-0 win over St Mirren. This marked their most significant home victory in over three years, keeping them firmly in the race alongside Rangers and Celtic. The Jambos took control early, with Laurent Mendy opening the scoring in the 20th minute. Calvin Miller added two penalties, one before and another after the break. Cláudio Braga and Josh McPake rounded off a comfortable afternoon as Hearts prepared for their upcoming Conference League clash against Nordsjaelland. This was Hearts' biggest league victory at Tynecastle since they thrashed Ross County 6-1 back in April 2023, and they now lead the league in goals scored. In other action, Dundee snatched a dramatic 2-1 win at Falkirk thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Ashley Hay. Back from injury, Hay converted a free-kick from Ethan Hamilton to complete a comeback after Owen Bevan had equalized earlier for the Dark Blues, canceling out Jacob Murrell’s first-half penalty. Meanwhile, Marink Reedijk had a tough start as Hibernian's manager, suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Dundee United at Tannadice. The home side's Daniel Bennie, on loan from QPR, netted the only goal of the match, while Hibs finished the game with ten men after Jacob Devaney saw red.
